Administrative Arrangements OrderA formal document issued by the Federal Executive Council (and generally published in the Commonwealth Gazette), which assigns responsibility for legislation and functions to departments of State. They can cause administrative change when functions are moved from one department to another.

Administrative Arrangements OrderThe Administrative Arrangements Order is an instrument made by the Governor-General. It establishes Departments of State under the Constitution and spells out the matters and the Acts dealt with by each Department and its Minister(s). It is also useful for historical researchers, to work out where to look for what records.
